It has been a while since the last news update, so there is a lot to catch up on. Recent months saw Braddon work on various recording sessions for Kelly Clarkson (www.kellyclarkson.com), one half of The Eurythmics in Dave Stewart (www.davestewart.com) and John Farnham.
He also engineered the soundtrack for an upcoming feature film called 'The Sapphires', that stars Jessica Mauboy and Deborah Mailman. In the lead up to Christmas, he engineered and mixed a song for Damien Leith (www.damienleith.com.au) and Tommy Emmanuel (www.tommyemmanuel.com). He also mixed tracks for Tim Freedman's (www.timfreedman.com) new album, Australian Idle, and had tracks released on albums by Stan Walker and Jessica Mauboy. He also engineered all vocals on the debut album for Australia's Got Talent winner Jack Vidgen (www.jackvidgen.com). The album debuted at No#3 and has since gone Gold.
On top of all this, he has put together a charity project that features a huge lineup of local Australian artists. More details of this project will be released soon.
The Australian winter saw Braddon escape to Queensland for a bit of work. He joined rock band Syndicate (www.syndicateofficial.com) at the impressive Heliport Studios (www.heliportstudios.com) on the Sunshine Coast. Back in Sydney, he produced and recorded vocals for a new duet with Jessica Mauboy (www.jessicamauboy.com.au) and Stan Walker (www.stanwalker.com.au). The song is called 'Galaxy' and should hit the airwaves soon. New X-Factor judge Natalie Bassingthwaighte (www.natbassingthwaighte.com) also stopped by to record new songs for her upcoming release.
Country legend John Williamson (www.malleeboy.com) recorded at the studio, along with a host of NRL legends for a special song in support of the NRL's Men Of League (www.menofleague.com). Braddon recorded and mixed the song aptly titled 'Men Of League'. The guys will be playing the song live at this years NRL Grand Final, so make sure you're watching.
Each Winter Braddon produces, engineers and mixes the annual TDP album (www.talentdevelopmentproject.org.au), and this year there was a great bunch of new artists coming through. You can check them out at (www.reverbnation.com/talentdevelopmentprojectfoundation). In other news, Damien Leith's 'Roy' album (on which Braddon engineered three songs, and mixed two) was released to great success. It debuted at No#2 on the ARIA charts and has since gone Gold. Congratulations Damien!!! To cap things off, we had Former Prime Minister John Howard come by for a few months of recording to lay down his talking book (Braddon even had a hard fought win in table tennis over the Ex-PM).
In-between all of this, Braddon mixed a couple of independent albums, wrote and produced some original material, and continued to develop the studio with some new equipment.
It has been a few months since the last update, so there is plenty to catch up on. 2011 started with a bang, with Ludacris (wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludacris), De La Soul (myspace.com/delasoul) and Mike Posner (www.mikeposner.com) stopping by the studio for a day while in town for the Good Vibrations festival. Mike Posner stayed on for an extra three days to work on new songs for his upcoming album and new mixtape.
Braddon recorded and mixed two new songs for Damien Leith's (www.damienleith.com.au) new album, as well as recording and mixing new tracks for The Vines (www.thevines.com) for an exciting new project that will be coming out soon. Mark Ronson (www.markronson.co.uk) also stopped by while on tour with the Future Music festival, and worked on a variety of projects. April was highlighted by another visit from Irish band The Script (www.thescriptmusic.com). The boys were back in the studio with Braddon (they last worked together back in October) to record new material for a collaboration with U.K. rapper Tinie Tempah (www.tinietempah.com).
In the middle of all this there were lots of new songs being written and recorded, as well as a couple of independent albums being cut. All in all it was a jam packed start to 2011, here's hoping the rest of the year goes as well.
